Law minister Anisul Huq told reporters Sunday that the disciplinary rules for the lower court judges would be published in the official gazette in the next week.
He was replying to reporters after meeting Chief Justice SK Sinha at the latter’s office Sunday afternoon.
In the morning a six-judge bench of the Appellate Division chaired by the Chief Justice had put off until today its hearing scheduled for Sunday on the matter of the disciplinary rules for the subordinate court judges.
Anis said that the government would today seek one more week’s time for holding further discussions on the issue with the Chief Justice on Thursday on both the draft rules, one prepared by the Supreme Court and the other by the law ministry.
On July 2, the law minister had told reporters that the government would publish the disciplinary rules for lower court judges in official gazette by July 15.
Since August 28,2016, it was for the 17th time, that the government prayed for extension of the deadline for publishing in the rules for the lower court judges.
