The theatre deparment of Dhaka Unversity is participating at the nine-day world congress of ITI, which commenced at Segovia in Spain on Friday.
The DU team, which represents Bangladesh at the event, comprises professor Israfeel Shaheen and noted theatre experts Shahman Moishan and Mahedi Tanjir.
On Friday, the opening day of the event, Israfeel Shaheen delivered a lecture titled ‘Performing Arts Transforming the World’ at the congress.
The Bangladeshi team will give a power point presention on how the treatre practitioners of Bangladesh depict issues of Rohingya and other ethnic communities in theatre and also hold a workshop titled ‘Ethnographic Approach to the Pedagogy of Acting in context of Bangladesh’ at the congress.
Internaitonal Theatre Institute, which is an affiliate NGO of UNESCO, has organsied the 35th edition of the world congress which will continue till July 22.
Eighty memeber countires of ITI including Switzerland, China, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Philippines, USA, India and others are participating at the event. The theme for this year’s event is ‘ACT! Performing Arts Transforming the World.’
