50,000 yaba tablets found in flag car, one held

Detectives arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 50,000 pieces of yaba tablets from a flag carrying Pajero SUV in the city’s Segunbagicha area on Sunday night.

The arrestee was identified as Yusuf, 30, a resident of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman said tipped off, a team of the Detective Branch conducted a drive in Segunbagicha area near Shilpakala Academy and intercepted the flagged Pajero around 7:55pm.

The law enforcers recovered 50,000 pieces of yaba tablets after searching the vehicle and arrested Yusuf.

A case was filed with Ramna Police Station in this connection.
