National hockey team head coach Mahbub Harun recalled senior players Kamruzzaman Rana and Emran Hasan Pintu in the preliminary squad for the forthcoming 10th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey, scheduled in Dhaka from October 12-22. Harun, who returned to the helm for the sixth time in his 11-year long coaching career replacing German coach Oliver Kurtz, has now 42 players at his disposal in the preliminary camp. Rana, Pinto, Krishna Kumar and Russell Mahmud Jimmy, who were part of 18-man Bangladesh squad for World Hockey League Round-2, were axed by German coach Kurtz earlier. Among them, Jimmy was serving a suspension imposed by the federation while Krishna failed to impress the selection committee.
