A three-kilometre tailback was formed on Dhaka-Mawa Highway in Munshiganj as vehicles filled with home-goers specially apparel workers poured in on the highway in their last minute trip.
The tailback was created as goods-laden vehicles were parked both sides on the highway, our correspondent reports.
Besides, a number of 400 vehicles were waiting to cross the River Padma at Shimulia pontoon in Munshiganj since morning, said Giasuddin Patwari, manager of the pontoon of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation.
A number of 18 ferries were operating on Shimulia-Kanthalbari route.
