Tigers slip to 7th place in rankings

Pakistan’s triumph over India in the Champions Trophy final saw Bangladesh descended to seventh position with 94 points in the latest ICC ODI ranking published on Monday.
Bangladesh lost one rating point after they were defeated by India in the semi-final while Pakistan gained four points and moved to sixth from eighth position with 95 points in the ICC rankings.
Even though after the relegation in the ranking, Bangladesh still can hope for their direct qualification for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, for which hosts England and the next seven highest-ranked sides as on September 30 will get straight entries.
There were no other big changes in the ranking as South Africa still held to No. one position with 119 points followed by Australia and India.
Among the Bangladesh players, skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza and opener Tamim Iqbal saw their improvements in the ranking as the Tigers skipper jumped three sports to be placed in the 15th position among the bowlers.
In-form Tamim Iqbal has improved one spot to be placed at 16th position among the batsmen after a continuous good run in the latest Champions Trophy and finished with 293 runs in the tournament, third highest after Shikhar Dhawan (338) and Rohit Sharma (304) of India.
