Mirza Fakhrul and some other senior leaders were injured in the attack.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office said that they firmly believe that the attack by ‘Awami’ armed goons on the party’s senior leaders including secretary general was carried out at the directive of top individuals of Awami government.
He said new edition of the hooliganism bore a signal to keep up ‘misrule’.
He termed the attack as a violent step to ruin the last existence of democracy.
He said Awami League considers silencing opposition’s democratic activities and criticism of the government something mandatory.
Rizvi said Awami government has erased the word ‘accountability’ from their dictionary. ‘So they became reckless, arrogant and resorted to terrorism. So they did not hesitate to attack on BNP leaders on their way to see the landslide affected people.’
Those who could travel abroad leaving natural disaster hit helpless people could do everything, he said indicating prime minister Sheikh Hssina recent visit to Sweden.
After the foreign visit no activity was seen regarding landslide affected areas rather people witnessed government’s ‘terrorism’ on the way of BNP delegation to the affected areas along with relief.
