Customs officials early Sunday arrested a passenger along with nine gold bars weighing five kilograms at Shahjalal International Airport.
Joint commissioner of Dhaka Customs House Shohel Rahman said that, acting on a tip-off, they detained 48-year old Abdur Razzak, who had landed in Dhaka around 12:30am on a Malaysian Airlines flight.
The officials challenged Razzak before leaving the green channel of the airport and seized five gold bars weighing one kilogram each and four bars weighing 100 grams each from him.
The estimated market price of the gold was around Tk 2.7 crore, he added.
