Two rescued, eight missing in Buriganga trawler capsize

A joint team of fire service and river police rescued two passengers, who went missing as a trawler capsized in the River Buriganga in Sadarghat area of the capital on Monday night.

At least eight people still remained missing in the incident.

Local sources said the trawler carrying 80-85 passengers sank in the river due to rough weather around 10:45pm while heading towards Jinjira ferry ghat.

All but ten people managed to swim to safety.

Fire service and river police rushed to the spot and were carrying out rescue drive.
