Doob goes to Shanghai film fest

Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s film Doob (No Bed of Roses) has been selected to compete at the main competition round of the Shanghai International Film Festival 2017, which will commence from June 17

An indo-Bangla joint-venture film, Doob, starring Bollywood actor Irfan Khan, will compete with 14 other feature films from China, USA, Romania, Poland, UK, Germany, Philippines, Iran and Japan at the 20th edition of the festival, which will run from June 17 to June 25.

The winning film of the festival will be awarded with the prestigious Golden Goblet Award at the closing ceremony of the festival on June 25

The films will be judged by a jury board comprising prominent filmmakers including Romanian film director Cristian Mungiu, Oscar winning US producer Gary Michael Walters, Golden Lion winner New York-based Macedonian-born film director Milcho Manchevski, noted Chinese filmmaker Cao Baoping, Chinese screenwriter Li Qiang, Japanese director Sabu and Chinese actress Xu Qing.

Doob’s director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, actors Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Parno Mittra, producers Ashok Dhanuka, Abdul Aziz, and Himanshu Dhanuka are scheduled to attend the festival

Earlier Doob was selected to compete at this year’s prestigious Moscow International Film Festival, which will commence from June 22.
