A youth died of bullet wounds while 10 others got injured during a clash between two rival groups of ruling Awami League in Munshiganj sadar early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Md Masud, 22, of village Dakkhin Char Mashura in sadar upazila.
The injured were taken to Munshiganj General Hospital. Md Arif, 20, one of three to receive bullet injuries, was sent to Dhaka in critical condition.
Sadar police officer-in-charge Yunus Ali said the clash took place at the village around 4:00am over establishing supremacy in the area.
Four people were shot at during the clash and one of them died on the spot, he added.
Salam Hossain, a resident of the village, said the clash occurred among the supporters of Awami League-backed Char Kewar union parishad chairman Jiban Ahmed and sadar upazila unit president of Awami League Afsar Uddin Bhuiyan.
Munshiganj police superintendent Jayedul Alam said police were deployed in the area to calm the situation.
