Priyanka Gope won National Film Award in the best playback singer (female) category for the song Amar Shukh Shey from the libration war-based film Anil Bagchir Ekdin.
Priyanka, who made her debut as playback singer through the film, said the award was a pleasant surprise for her as she did not expect it.
‘I never expected to win such a prestigious award for my very first playback. The award will inspire me to take my career forward,’ said Priyanka, adding that she wishes to further her career as a playback singer. However, she is very selective when it comes to lending her voice.
‘I will only lend voice to the songs which best suits with my voice and singing style,’ said Priyanka.
The singer is thankful to Swani Zubayer the music director of Anil Bagchir Ekdin, who also composed the song.
‘I thank him for his contribution and hard work in the film,’ she said.
‘I am also grateful to filmmaker Morshedul Islam and want to thank the jury board of National Film Award for giving me the honour,’ she added.
Talking about her current project Priyanka, who teaches at the Music Department of Dhaka University, said she is currently busy with academic research and taking a short break from singing for the reason.
‘I am currently busy with academic research. I will resume singing once I have completed my project,’ Priyanka said.
Till date Priyanka Gope has released four solo albums including classical albums Sure Sure Dekha Hobe and Raga Delights from Bengal Foundation. The singer has also released several mixed albums including Hridoye Sukher Chowa, which is a duet album of
Priyanka Gope and Afsana Runa and was released by Soundtek.
