Up and coming singers presented popular songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam at Chhayanaut auditorium in Dhanmondi on Thursday, the second day of Chhayanaut’s two-day programme marking national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 118th birth anniversary.
Child artistes of Chhayanaut commenced the show by singing Sobuj Shobhar Dhew Khele Jay, which Nazrul wrote glorifying the scenic beauty of Bengal.
Artistes of Chhayanaut presented a colourful dance performance synchronised with the song Karar Oi Louha Kopat to the audience’s delight.
Chhayanaut artistes Abhijit Kunda, Manish Sarkar, Mirza Bushra Fatima and Shukla Pal Setu rendered Khele Noder Anginay, Amar Kon Kule Aaj, Pashane Bhangale Ghum and Tomar Bina Taarer Giti, respectively, at the programme.
Apart from musical performances by Chhayanaut artistes, the programme also featured rendition of Nazrul Sangeet by artistes of cultural organisation Sur Shaptak; which added a different flavor to the show.
The good number of audience enjoyed the show that evening. ‘I have greatly enjoyed the programme where artistes sang so many popular songs of Nazrul,’ Tanjil Tomal Khan, a private university teacher, told New Age.
