‘Robber’ killed in Khulna gunfight with cop

An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Paschim Tutpara area of the city early Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Raju Ahmed, 27, son of Siddiqur Rahman. He was accused in five cases, including robbery and murder.
Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police, said that on secret information that a gang of robbers numbering 10-12 were taking preparation to commit robbery in the area, a team of police conducted drive around 3:00am.
Sensing presence of law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, prompting the law enforcers to retaliate, leaving Raju bullet wounds.
Later, he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 4:00am.
Police recovered two pistols, four bullets, added the OC.
