Police found nothing during their hours-long drive at the office of Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia at Gulshan in the city on Saturday morning.
The party has announced demonstration across the country including Dhaka on Sunday protesting against the drive at the party chief’s office.
The raid ended around 9:45am which started around 7:00am, said Sayrul Kabir Khan, press wing member of the BNP chairperson.
The law enforcers found nothing during the raid, he added.
BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi went to the Gulshan party office being informed about the drive.
The raid was a part of conspiracy, he said.
Police conducted the drive to disturb Khaleda Zia mentally and dishonor her as well, Rizvi said.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who is now in Thakurgaon, condemned the police drive.
Leaders and activists of BNP staged demonstration in front of the Gulshan party office against the raid.
Later, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, at a programme at Dhaka Reporters Unity, announced that the party would stage demonstration across the country including Dhaka on Sunday in protest against conducting drive at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office.
Police, following a search warrant issued by the court, carried out the raid on the BNP chief’s Gulshan office to find out whether there is any anti-state document in it, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Gulshan police station, reports United News of Bangladesh.
