Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Moudud Ahmed on Friday hailed Chief Justice SK Sinha for trying truly to establish independence of judiciary.

‘We want his (CJ) efforts to be successful,’ Moudud, a Supreme Court lawyer and former law minister, told a discussion.

Bangladesh Ganatantrik Sangskritik Jote organised the discussion on BNP’s vision 2030 at the National Press Club in the city.

The senior BNP leader said now rule of law means ‘partisan rule’.

Turning to general election, Moudud says ruling Awami League knows that their defeat must if a fair election is held.

‘So they (AL) are afraid of holding a fair election,’ he said.

The next election would not be a one-party election, Moudud said, rather it would be free and fair ones and BNP would join that election.
