The battalion personnel also detained Md Sumon, 31, son of Md Julhash, of Madaripur, in this connection.

A team of RAB-10, led by additional police superintendent Muhammad Mohiuddin Faruki, detained Sumon during its drive on Thursday at Dakkhin Keraniganj on charge of abducting Kinara Rahman Shin.

Shin, daughter of Md Shakhawat Hossain, was abducted from her house located at Jinjira under Keraniganj police station on Wednesday evening allegedly by Sumon, a technician by profession, it added.

The accused demanded Tk two lakh as ransom.

The battalion produced Sumon before media on Friday at a press briefing held at RAB media centre at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka and returned the baby girl to her parents formally.
