President Abdul Hamid on Thursday assented to two bills that were passed in recent 15th session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad.
The president has assented two bills— 'Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture Research Bill, 2017' and ‘Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Bill, 2017’, said a parliament secretariat statement issued on the day.
The parliament during its 15th session in between May 2 to 8 passed ‘Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture Research Bill, 2017’ aimed at ensuring a sustainable and production-oriented agricultural system by innovating environment friendly new varieties of crops through using nuclear techniques.
The bill was passed scrapping the Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agricultural Ordinance-1984.
The Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Bill, 2017 is aimed at formation and implementation of policy framework on agricultural development, formation of work plan of the institution, carrying out research, setting up infrastructures, innovating stress tolerant and high yielding variety of crops and supply of HYV crop seeds among the farmers.
The bill scrapped Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute Ordinance, 1976.
