Liton Das struck his second century in three matches to set up a 49-run win for Abahani Limited over bitter rivals Legends of Rupganj and help them confirm their place in the Super League of Dhaka Premier League on Wednesday.
Abahani were joined by Prime Doleshwar in the Super League with the latter securing a 10-wicket win over Khelaghar SKS.
The win of Abahani and Doleshwar, who have now 16 and 14 points respectively with a round to go, also confirmed Super League for Prime Bank Cricket Club, who have two matches in hand.
Lowly Vitoria Sporting Club recorded their first win after nine successive losses in the other match of the day when they defeated Partex SC by two wickets at Fatullah.
Abahani v Rupganj
Liton and Sadman Islam shared 207 runs as the opening pair lay the foundation for Abahani, who excelled on their form to post 333 runs before they were all out in the final over.
Liton made 136 runs off 101 balls with 20 fours and three sixes and was ably supported by his in-form partner Sadman, who chipped in with 85 off 83 balls hitting seven fours and five sixes.
Abahani were looking to score over 350 runs with their score 274-3 in 40.5 overs but Rupganj bowlers kept their cool to dismiss them with less than what they had expected.
Mosharraf Hossain and Sharif were the pick of the bowlers for Rupganj taking three wickets each.
Chasing a mammoth total, Rupganj were struggling at 74-4 in the 16th over before Naeem Islam staged a lone battle with 123 off 119 balls.
But the right-hander, who struck 11 fours and three sixes, could not cope up with soaring run-rate, leaving Rupganj stranded on 284-6.

Partex earlier rode on Irfaan Sukkur’s 95 and Sazzadul Haque’s 75 to get the kind of total that they thought they could defend. But despite the best effort of Imran Ali, who claimed 4-55, they were unable to do so.
