Timeless poems penned by Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam were presented by the artistes of Swarachitra Abritti Charcha O Bikash Kendra at National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Monday.
The troupe celebrated birth anniversaries of Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam through the programme, which was dedicated to the memory of late recitation artiste and freedom fighter Kazi Arif.
Artistes of the troupe recited two poetry compilations at the event, under the direction of noted recitation artiste Mahidul Islam, to the audience’s delight.
The first compilation titled ‘Anya Juger Sakha’ featured 20 poems by Rabindranath Tagore while the second one titled ‘Je Beena Rudrabeena’ featured Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 20 poems.
Swarachitra artistes commenced the show with a chorus recitation of Tagore’s poem Antar Mamo Bikashita Koro, the first poem from the compilation Anya Juger Sakha. Following which recitation artistes - Mahidul Islam, Tamanna Daisy, Farhana Misti, Shipra Rahman, Abdul Halim, Asif Arman and others entertained the audience with solo recitation of Tagore’s poems like Pratigga, Krishnakali, Meghdut, Hotath Dekha, Parichoy, Banshiwala, Banshi, Africa, Prithibi and others.
The poetry compilation Je Beena Rudrabeena featured Kazi Nazrul Islam’s popular poems like Hindu-Musalman, Nari, Kandari Husiyar, Proloyullas, Khudiramer Ma, Amar Kaifiyat, Samyabadi, Bidrohi and others.
‘Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam through their works provided the bedrocks on which our literature and culture stands today. The compilation productions attempted to introduce the poetic excellence of the poets to the young generation’, said Mahidul Islam.
