Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will place the national budget for the next 2017-18 financial year (FY18) on June 1, official sources said.
The budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad will, however, begin on May 30.
This will be the 16th session of the 10th parliament.
Last year Muhith placed a Tk 3 lakh 40 thousand 605 crore budget for the current 2016-17 financial year (FY17) on June 2, setting the GDP growth target at 7.2 per cent and delineating a set of programmes to transform the country into a role model of modern and welfare state by 2041.
The finance minister who this year is placing the national budget for the ninth time in a row since 2009, hinted that the size of the budget could be over Tk 4 lakh crore.
This will be the country’s 46th budget and the 18th of the Awami League government while the 11th for Muhith.
