Prime minister’s ICT affairs adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Monday asked the telecom regulator to arrange spectrum auction in two months for expediting the launch of 4G services and improve quality of telecom services.
At a meting at the Telecom Division in Dhaka, Joy gave direction on several issues to speed up digitization process, said state minister for telecom Tarana Halim after the meeting.
She said that they were very much concerned about the mobile operators’ service quality.
Tarana said Joy endorsed their proposal to allocate more spectrums to the mobile operators to improve their service quality.
She said the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission would send draft guidelines in this regard and the government would act on it.
‘We have a plan to finalise the guidelines within this fiscal year,’ Tarana added.
Joy also asked the BTRC to take initiative to invite global telecom giants to invest in Bangladesh.
