Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal general secretary Khalequzzaman on Wednesday blamed the ruling Awami League leaders for irregularities in distributing the cards of Vulnerable Group Feeding project among the flood-hit people in haor region.
He alleged that the affected farmers are being deprived of getting the government food supports under the VGF programme because of nepotism and irregularities of the local AL leaders.
The BSD leader made the allegation while addressing a rally at Sachna Bazar under Jamalganj upazila in Sunamganj in the afternoon.
Local leaders of Communist Party of Bangladesh and BSD held the rally after the parties’ central leaders visited different haors.
Khalequzzaman complained that the boro crops of the seven districts have been submerged by the floodwater because of corruptions in constructing and repairing protection embankments by the contractors loyal to the ruling party lawmakers and dishonest officials of Power Development Board.
‘The people of haor belt have been fallen in this disastrous situation as a result of the government’s unabated corruption,’ he claimed.
CPB district president Chittaranjan Talukder presided over the rally that was addressed, among others, by CPB presidium member Sajjad Zahir Chandan, BSD central committee member Bazlur Rashid Firoz, CPB central committee member Ruhin Hossain Prince, Juba Union former president Abdullah Kafi Ratan.
