The inquest report of the forensic department of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital has described the death of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner Sabbir Ahmed Sarfaraz as suicide.

Enamul Hoque, assistant professor of RMCH forensic department, said: ‘Sabbir was found dead sitting on a sofa with a thin nylon cord tied around his neck while another part of the rope was tied with the grille of the window. The initial investigation suggests the police official committed suicide as the door was locked from inside and there was no alternative way to enter the room.’

‘However, the actual reason behind his death could be known after the post-mortem report.’

Rejecting the inquest report, Sabbir’s father Obaidullah Haque, also a former RMP DIG, said: ‘My son cannot commit suicide. The actual reason behind his death can be confirmed once the autopsy report comes.’
