The country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone on Sunday announced that the entity’s net profit grew by 17.85 per cent during the January-March quarter in 2017.
Net profit after tax of GP increased to Tk 660 crore during the quarter against that of Tk 560 crore in the same period of the previous year.
‘We passed a good quarter with healthy performance to start the year,’ said Grameenphone chief executive officer Petter Furberg.
‘Our data as well voice revenue continue grew with healthy momentum and this is an encouraging sign for us that our commitment towards providing superior network quality and simple offers are creating greater value for our valued subscribers,’ he said.
Earnings per share of the entity increased to Tk 4.86 during
the quarter, while GP’s EPS was Tk 4.15 during January-March period of 2016.
Grameenphone also reported revenue of Tk 3,060 crore for
the first quarter of 2017 with an 11.1 per cent growth from the same period last year.
Data revenue grew by 64.9 per cent with healthy growth in user base and volume, while voice revenue grew by 7.1 per cent with healthy development of minutes of usage.
GP invested Tk 450 crore during the quarter for 3G as well 2G coverage expansion and capacity enhancement of voice.
