Skipper Amit Majumdar scored a brilliant hundred as Khelaghor SKC defeated Partex SC by 77 runs in Dhaka Premier League’s battle of newly promoted sides at BKSP on Friday.
Amit scored 101 runs as Khelaghar posted 288-8 before combined effort by bowlers helped them dismiss Partex for 211 runs in 45.1 overs to earn their first win in the tournament.
Khelaghar’s Sadekur Rahman along with Robiul Islam and Tanvir Islam grabbed three wickets each to make sure skipper Amit’s feat did not go wasted.
Khelaghar were struggling at 64-3 before Amit came up with rescue act and focused to revive their innings in company with Nazimuddin (17) as they added 54 runs for the fourth wicket before the latter was removed by Bishwanath Halder.
Khelaghar’s fortune looked to change immediately after Nazmus Sadat joined Amit as they began to take the game away from their opponent through their fifth wicket stand worth 133 runs.
Amit made 101 runs from 85 balls with nine fours and three sixes while Nazmus blistering 51-ball 79 with six sixes and two fours helped Khelaghar post a challenging total.
In reply, Partex began their chase on a positive note as Irfaan Sukkur and Sazzad Hossain put up 70 runs in their opening stand but looked to lose their way soon after the partnership was broken by Robiul after trapping Irfan in front.
Sazzad followed him soon and just when a partnership was required to put up resistance, Partex batsmen perished without contributing much against a versatile bowling unit of Khelaghar.
Left-arm spinner Ariful grabbed 3-24 to lead their bowling unit and he was ably supported by off spinner Robiul, who finished with 3-31, and Sadekur picking up 3-58 to end the show in style.
