Huge explosive found in raid at Jhenaidah house

Law enforcers on Friday afternoon recovered huge improvised explosive device and detonators, three suicidal vest, a pressure cooker bomb and 20 containers of chemicals raiding an abandoned house, suspecting it to be an extremists’ hideout at Thanthania village of Porahati union in Jhenaidah.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police said Jhenaidah police and DMP’s counter terrorism unit cordoned off the house at 6:00pm and recovered the bomb and other equipment.

They said a bomb disposal unit has also headed for Jhenaidah from Dhaka.

Officer-in-charge of Jhenaidah police station Harendra Nath Sarkar said a team of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit led by Jhenaidah superintendent of police Mizanur Rahman cordoned off the house.

They had information that the house was being used by unidentified extremists, he said.

Police said that the house is owned by Md Abdullah, but the detail information about his identity could not be known immediately.
