12 injured in DU BCL infighting

At least 12 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student associate of ruling Awami League, were injured in infighting between rival groups over occupying seats in Salimullah Muslim Hall on Dhaka University campus Thursday night.

The injured took primary treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

The clash took place around 11:30pm among the followers of the hall unit BCL president, Tahsan Ahmed Russell, and the unit’s secretary, Mehedi Hasan Tapos, our correspondent reported.

Both the groups locked in clash equipped with local weapons, leaving 12 BCL men injured.

Later, the university proctor, AM Amzad, and senior leaders of Chhatra League rushed in and took the situation under control.

Dhaka University unit BCL president Abid al Hasan said organisational steps would be taken against the perpetrators involved in the clash.
