Bangladesh has strongly condemned the violence unleashed by the occupying Israeli forces on innocent devotees and civilians at Al Aksa mosque compound in East Jerusalem, the evictions of Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood and transfer of Israeli civilian population into the occupied territories.

In a statement issued on Monday, the foreign ministry described the Israeli attack on Saturday as terrorist in nature, also saying that the attack was tantamount to committing war crimes in the occupied territories.

The ministry said that the attack exposed severe violation of international laws, accords, human rights and humanitarian norms, adding that the attack also provoked the compassion to the repressed people all over the world.

The Bangladesh government urged the international community to take sustainable measures to end Israeli attacks on Palestinians and stop confiscation of private properties in the occupied territories done through an apartheid policy of Israel.

Bangladesh reaffirmed its position in favour of establishing an independent state of Palestine on the basis of two-state solution with Palestine’s pre-1967 borders and East Jerusalem as its capital.

‘Bangladesh firmly supports the inalienable rights of the people of Palestine for a sovereign and independent homeland in a viable Palestine State and territorial integrity as established through various UN resolutions,’ the ministry said.

Bangladesh also reiterated its steadfast position to a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue by engagement of both sides in dialogue to reach an agreement so that peace might be attained for the peoples living in the area.
