Oryx Bio-Tech began the construction of its plasma fractionation plant in Block-II of Summit Technopolis in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City located in Kaliakoir of Gazipur on Monday.
With an investment of $ 300 million, Oryx Bio-Tech’s plasma fractionation plant will produce plasma derivatives, also known as life-saving therapeutics, said a press release.
This project, in collaboration with US NASDAQ-listed biotech company China Biologic Products, is expected to employ about 2,000 high value jobs from the science and technology background.
ICT state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP at the ground-breaking event said, ‘The Oryx project will open an era of biotech industry and open the door for other such hi-tech projects for Bangladesh.’
Oryx Bio-Tech chairman Kazi Shakil said, ‘The Oryx plant will produce life-saving therapeutics that are currently produced only in the most advanced countries of the world.’
Summit Group director Fadiah Khan, ICT Division senior secretary NM Zeaul Alam, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director Hosne Ara Begum (secretary) and Summit Technopolis managing director Abu Reza Khan were present as special guests.
