NOFEL Sporting club, a platform of three districts from greater Noakhali area - Noakhali, Feni and Lakshmipur – is all set to be introduced in Dhaka’s football in the upcoming season.
The newly-formed club will start its journey by taking part in the second-tier professional league Bangladesh Championship, having obtained permission from the Bangladesh Football Federation.
The club on Sunday announced 21-member executive committee with BFF vice-president Tabith M Awal as its president.
Tabith, who is also the president of Feni Soccer Club, that was relegated from the Bangladesh Premier League in the last season, said he would back both teams simultaneously.
‘I just formed the club to serve the country’s sports,’ Tabith told New Age on Sunday.
‘Not only football, we have a plan to take part in the different sports discipline in future.’
Tabith said he took the initiative after watching a huge interest in the people of three districts about football.
‘Apart from Feni, many people from Noakhali and Lakhsmipur also showed their interest to get involved with the sports, which actually inspired me to do something for them,’ he said.
‘Our main goal is to produce some talented footballers who can serve the national team in future.’
Shakhawat Hossain Shahin, also the manager of Feni Soccer Club, was named as the general secretary.
