A 30-year-old woman was hacked to death and her sister-in-law was injured at their residence at Daniya of Jatrabari in the capital Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Shilpi Begum of Chauddagram in Comilla. Her sister-in-law Parul Begum was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sub-inspector Jahangir Hossain of the police station said they, receiving information from the locals, recovered the body from their fourth floor flat and rescued Parul midnight past Saturday.

Unidentified assailants entered the victim’s apartment around 11:30pm and fled the scene after killing Shilpi and injuring Parul, he said.

Locals informed police hearing screaming of Parul, he said, adding that the assailants might be known to the victims.

They were investigating the motive behind the killing, the police sub-inspector added.

No case was filed and none was so far arrested.
