A Juba League leader was arrested at Jashore’s Abhaynagar upazila on Monday for allegedly stripping the wife of an expatriate and taping the incident.
Police arrested Imdadul Islam raiding his house in the morning.
The police said that Imdadul had an affair with the victim. But the woman ended her extra-marital relation when her expatriate husband returned home about four months ago and learned about it.
The enraged Juba League leader waylaid the victim on January 6 in Nurbagh area and took her to the house of one Makbul in Noapara Railway Slum.
There, he forcefully stripped her and recorded the incident on phone. He threatened to release the video online if the victim discontinued their affair.
Police arrested Imdadul after receiving a complaint from the victim in the morning. The said video was found on his mobile phone.
‘He confessed to his crimes during initial questioning,’ the police source said.
Additional superintendent of police Jamal Al Naser said that they brought the Juba League leader to the police station after receiving complaint from a woman.
‘We’re investigating the allegations,’ he said.
