Law enforcement and intelligence agencies spotted most of 103 polling centres in the forthcoming Comilla City Corporation election, slated for March 30, as vulnerable.
‘The law enforcement and intelligence agencies recently submitted a report in this regard with the Election Commission’s regional office in Comilla while the office also forwarded a copy of the report in EC’s head office,’ returning officer Raquib Uddin Mandal told New Age.
He said that the commission had already taken a decision to deploy additional forces at all polling centres.
Besides, on Tuesday, the ruling Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Anjum Sultana Sima declared her election manifesto from a press conference at the local Awami League office at Ramghat in the city.
In the manifesto, Sima said she will work to improve the drainage system and proper management of the traffic system in the city area if the city people will elect her.
She also has given commitment to build a 500-bed specialised hospital for children and women and a hostel for working female in the city area.
According to the EC records, there are 2,07,384 registered voters — 1,02,329 males and 1,05,055 females — in Comilla city.
