The bank chairman, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, also a member of parliament, launched the programme as chief guest at the bank’s Dhanmondi branch in the capital on Monday.
Under the savings scheme, after six years, the rickshaw pullers will get two fold benefits from the deposit.
They will have to deposit Tk 100 every week for six years. At the end of the tenure, the bank will pay back these customers twice the amount they saved.
The bank will also try to facilitate small loans for these people in future.
‘Through these financial incentives, the bank is trying to improve their saving habits and create some capital for them to use in future,’ vice-president and head of Dhanmondi Branch Nabil Muntasir stated.
