Chittagong Metropolitan Police on Monday conducted raids on two suspected extremist dens in the port city.
Around 4:00pm, two CMP teams cordoned the buildings - one at Ishan Mohajan Lane and the other at CDA Residential Area and searched the buildings until 6:00pm.
Neither any extremist nor any explosive was found in the buildings, police said.
The metropolitan police commissioner Iqbal Bahar said that they conducted drives at the two buildings on suspicion as a part of their regular block raid.
Farukul Haque, deputy Commissioner (West) of the metropolitan police said they did not find any militant or explosive in the drive.
‘The search operation was conducted as a part of anti-extremist drive,’ he said.
Police sources said CMP started block raids in the city after busting two militant dens at Amirabad and Premtala in Sitakunda on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Chittagong district police on Monday concluded the explosive recovery drive at `Chhayaneer’ building of Premtala at Sitakunda, five days after the operation started.
Rezaul said a couple, Jahirul Islam and Razia Sultana, who were detained from Sadhan Kutir at Sitakunda on Wednesday with arms and explosives, were under police interrogation.
