The secretary general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, on Monday asked the home minister to explain the incident of Hanif Mridha, who according to RAB, died in custody hours after being detained near Friday's suicide blast spot at Ashkona in the capital.
Meanwhile, Hanif family members claimed that he was picked up by a group of people identifying themselves as detectives in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj on February 27.
Addressing a discussion programme of National People’s Party at Dhaka Reporters’s Unity in the capital, the BNP leader asked ‘who is telling the truth RAB personnel or Hanif’s family?’
‘It is law enforcer’s duty to provide accurate information to people and give them assistance whenever they need.’
If the claim of Hanif’s family appears to be truth then which way we are leading our country? This kind of incident also happened earlier when picked up people were killed branding them as extremists’, he said.
‘Don’t play the terrifying game of extremism,’ he said.
