Communication experts in a training workshop emphasised accuracy of information and target-based information dissemination for successful crisis management like pandemic situation.
The views were expressed in a two-day training programme on Communication Skill Enhancement organised by National Resilience Programme concluded on Monday in Dhaka, said a press release.
NRP is being implemented by four government agencies having technical partnership with UNDP, UN Women and UNOPSS. The NRP is funded by DFID and SIDA.
A total of 25 participants from NRP projects and officials from concerned implementing agencies participated in this training course.
The participants were imparted knowledge on modern approaches of communication including effective uses of social media for making the communication faster and people centered.
The approaches are supportive in achieving resilience linking with the Sustainable Development Goals and Sendai Framework of Actions for DRR. It was mentioned in the workshop that NRP is going to introduce Digital Risk Information Platform for making access to risk information to the planning officials.
In his address as chief guest in the closing session of the training, Md Mohsin, secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief emphasised professionalism of institutional communication for quality services to the citizens of Bangladesh.
The closing session was also addressed by Ranjit Kumar Sen, ndc, additional secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Md Syeduzzaman, joint chief of Programming Division, Mohammad Iftekhar Hossain, Program Coordinator of NRP, Nusrat Noman, deputy secretary of the Economic Relations Division and Arif Abdullah Khan, programme specialist of UNDP Bangladesh.
SM Morshed, project manager of NRP moderated the closing session. The secretary, MoDMR distributed certificates among the participants.
