Newly elected general secretary of Jatiyo Rabindrasangeet Sammilan Parishad Bulbul Islam expressed his determination of making the organisation vibrant and to promote Tagore songs by organising regular musical programmes across the country.
He had been elected general secretary of the organisation on March 11 at the three-day convention of the organisation held at the Central Public Library. He will serve as the general secretary of the orgination for two years while Sanjida Khatun will remain the president.
‘We have 72 branches across the country. Few of these branches are struggling due to lack of trainers and administrators. My very first act will be to identify the weaker branches and help them,’ said Bulbul.
The singer also talked about the current scenario of Tagore song in the country.
‘People are more interested in Tagore songs these days. Parents are sending their children to music schools to learn the songs. Such positive mindset towards Tagore songs is good for both the genre and cultural arena of the country,’ told Bulbul.
Bulbul earlier held the position for two times.
‘This is my third term serving as the general secretary of the organisation. I am glad that I have been entrusted with the responsibility once more,’ Bulbul Islam said.
