The price of gold reached a record high to Tk 72,783 a bhari as jewellers on Thursday increased the price of the metal by Tk 2,916 a bhari on the ground of price hike in the international market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Samity in a press release said that the new price of gold will be in effect from Friday.
On June 23, the prices of the precious metal witnessed a record hike by Tk 5,825 a bhari to Tk 69,867 a bhari from Tk 64,042 a bhari.
According to the BAJUS, the price of 22-karat gold increased by Tk 2,916 a bhari to Tk72,783 a bhari while the price of 21-karat gold increased to Tk 69,634 a bhari and 18-karat gold to Tk 60,886 a bhari.
The prices of 21-karat and 18-carat gold were Tk 66,708 a bhari and Tk 57,970 a bhari respectively.
However, the traditional gold price has been set at Tk 50,563 from Tk 47,647 a bhari, the release said.
