Removal of health minister, corrupt officials demanded

Police on Tuesday stopped a mass procession near zero point in on its way towards the health ministry at secretariat in Dhaka, demanding removal of the health minister.

The front organisations of Communist Party of Bangladesh, under the banner of Pragatishil Sangathansamuha, organised the march also demanding removal the officials of the Directorate General of Health Services involved in corruption and looting.

The leaders and activists started their march towards the ministry after holding a rally in front of the National Press Club. Police stopped the procession beside GPO and the marchers held a rally on the street.

Anwar Hossain Reza, general secretary of Bangladesh Khetmajur Samiti, said that the government had failed to tackle coronavirus situation in the country and the health ministry was engulfed in corruptions.

He demanded arrest and exemplary punishments of the officials of health ministry.

Krishok Samiti vice president Nimai Ganguly, Udichi Shilpi Gosthi general secretary Jamsed Anwar Tapan, Juba Union vice president Sajedul Huq Rubel, general secretary Khan Asaduzzaman Masum, Krishak Samiti central leader Manabendra Deb, Chhatra Union president Mehedi Hasan Nobel and others spoke at the rally.
