Leading mobile phone company Grameenphone on Wednesday announced that its profit in third quarter increased by 55 per cent to Tk 644.79 crore from that of Tk 414.12 crore in the same period of the previous year.
GP also reported that the profit increased to Tk 1,714 crore in nine months, January to September period, from that of Tk 1,468 crore in the same period of the previous year.
Earning per share of the company stood at Tk 4.78 in July-September period from that of Tk. 3.07 in July-September 2015 and net asset value was Tk 21.01 as of September 2016 from that of Tk 19.55 in same period of the previous year.
‘This quarter has been a solid one with accelerating momentum of our topline growth. Improvement in the daily revenue generating base along with usage is driving this growth. Data continues to perform well with voice revenue growth continuing,’ GP chief executive officer Rajeev Sethi said while announcing the financial results at a city hotel.
The revenue of the company in Q3 was Tk 2,940 crore and the subscribers base was 5.5 crore.
‘Quarter 3 marked the highest ever revenue for Grameenphone along with double digit growth. We believe the encouraging growth in voice and data usage that we are experiencing is a reflection of our continued investments in network and market,’ GP chief financial officer Dilip Pal said.
