A total 445 people were detected with COVID-19 in last 24 hours in Chattogram till Tuesday morning, the highest number of cases detected ever in a single day.
Among them, 324 were from the port city and 121 were from different upazilas of Chattogram.
As per the statistics of Chattogram Civil Surgeon office till Tuesday, a total 8480 people were detected with COVID, 173 people died and 1024 recovered.
Chattogram civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that a total 1494 samples were tested, and 445 of them were COVID positive and two people died of the disease in last 24 hours.
At present, COVID-19 samples are tested in seven laboratories of Chattogram. These are the laboratories of Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases BITID, Chittagong Medical College Hospital CMCH, Chittagong University CU, Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University CVASU, Cox’s Bazar Medical College Hospital and the two private hospitals laboratories- Imperial Hospital and Chevron Hospital.
Usually the test report is given after one day, he said.
In last 24 hours, a total 151 samples were tested and 45 were found positive in CU laboratory, 31 were positive among 216 samples at BITID, 121 were positive of 477 samples at CMCH, 83 were positive among 233 samples in CVASU, 1 positive of 10 samples Cox’sbazar, 23 were positive of 127 samples in Imperial and 141 were positive of 280 samples in Chevron Hosapital.
