Government has earned revenue worth of tk 24,596 crore from the six mobile operators country in the last sixteen years.
Posts and telecommunications minister Tarana Halim while answering a question of Awami League MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury on Sunday informed parliament said that government earned revenue Tk 24,596.41 crore from mobile operators in between 2000 to 2016.
Government has target of earning revenue of Tk 1582 crore in the current fiscal year, she said.
Grameenphone, the market leader, provided revenue of Tk 11,360 crore, Robi, provided revenue Tk 5273 crore, Banglalink's revenue was Tk 5208, Airtel, provided revenue of Tk 1595 crore, Citycell, the oldest operator in the country provided revenue of tk 697 crore and state owned Teletalk provided revenue of tk 460 crore.
