Eminent traditional singer Kangalini Sufia launched her latest album at a programme at the Jatra Birati Café in Dhaka on Thursday.
Titled Maa, the album contains 11 songs, penned by legendary folk bards including Fakir Lalon Shah.
Some of the songs included in the album were already well-known, because of Sufia’s vocalisation of them in the past, including Lauer Pichhe, Buri Hoilam, Nitai Kunja and Aarshinagar.
Other songs include Madinay Rasul, Jarey Harayechhi, Mayere Bhajile, Munai Sawdagar, Atharo Mokam, Doyal Bandhu and Moyna Re.
The songs have been rendered with traditional instruments and recorded live at studio to keep the akhra flavor.
Following the launch, Kangalini Sufi performed before the audience presenting several songs from the album.
