Reopening of Tuba Group factories demanded

Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee and National Garment Workers Federation on Friday demanded reopening of the five garment factories of the group.
Leaders of Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee, at a sit-in programme in front of the National Press Club, said that the owners of Tuba Group had shut down its factories through an illegal notice.
They said they would announce tougher programmes if the management did not reopen the factories immediately.
They also demanded cancellation of the bail the court had granted to Tuba Group and Tazreen Fashions owner Delwer Hossain, responsible for the death of 124 workers of the Tazreen Fashions.
Fazle Hossain Badsha, general secretary of the Workers Party of Bangladesh, at a protest rally organised by National Garment Workers Federation in front of the press club, demanded payment of the dues of the Tuba Group workers.
He called upon the government and the BGMEA to take steps to resolve the crisis of Tuba Group to ensure jobs of 1, 600 workers.
Mushrefa Mishu, coordinator of the Tuba Group Sramik Sangram Committee, said that they would stage demonstrations in front of the labour ministry on September 7 to press the demands of the Tuba workers.
