10 injured in Gazipur RMG clash

At least 10 people were injured in a clash between police and garments factory workers at Tongi area in Gazipur on Friday.
Witnesses said, the clashes erupted at about 7.00am when the workers of Zaber and Zubair Fabrics in Tongi Pagar area took to the street demanding a pay hike and festival bonus.
The agitated workers ransacked the factory building and set fire on the chemical warehouse.
The workers were engaged in a series of chase and counter chase with the law enforcers, who rushed to the spot as clashes broke out.
At least 10 garments were injured in the incident, police said.
Assistant Superintendent of Gazipur Industrial Police Abdul Khaleque said they fired 20 rounds of tear shells and baton charged on the workers to bring the situation under control.
