Another Islami Chhatra Shibir activist Ibnul Islam Parvez, 29, was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the police at village Aruakandi under Jhenaidah sadar early Saturday.
Parvez was the son of Jahangir Alam of Bananipara in Jhenaidah district town. He was a former president of Jhenaidah municipal unit of Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Jhenaidah sadar police officer-in-charge Hasan Hafizur Rahman said a group of ‘miscreants’ opened fire at a patrolling police team when they reached near Porahati graveyard about 3:00am.
The team retaliated by firing and the gunfight continued for nearly half an hour, he said.
The OC said when the miscreants fled the spot, police found the body of an unidentified youth and recovered a pistol with three bullets and three knives from the spot.
Parvez’s father Jahangir Alam alleged that plainclothes picked up Parvez and three others from a house at Capital’s Mohammadpur area on June 16.
He said that his statement corroborated with the statement of central unit of ICS issued on June 29 claiming that three Shibir men – Shahid Al Mahmud, Anisur Rahman and Ibnul Parvez — were picked up by the plainclothes men from Dhaka.
Of them, Shahid and Anisur were killed in ‘gunfight’ at Tetulbaria under Jhenaidah Sadar early Friday.
