BestSeller, GAP Inc join Bangladesh PaCT

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has recently entered into partnership with two global apparel companies BestSeller and GAP Inc to catalyse the uptake of sustainable industrial practices in their supplier factories in Bangladesh, said a news release.
The project will be carried out by IFC’s Bangladesh Partnership for Cleaner Textile programme. These two brands join eight other international apparel companies — C&A, H&M, Inditex, G-Star Raw, Kappahl, Lindex, Primark and Tesco — in the PaCT family bringing the total to 10.
PaCT programme manager Mohan Seneviratne said, ‘With Bangladesh’s increasing endeavour for a bigger share of the global textile export earnings, the local textile sector is poised to demand increased access to sustainable energy and water use practices. The PaCT programme stands to support textile factories in Bangladesh by introducing resource efficiency best practices and promoting doing more with less, the most cost effective way to reach resource sustainability.’
