Vessel carrying coal capsizes near Sunderbans

A cargo vessel carrying 510 tonnes of coal capsized in the Pasur river at Mongla near the Sunderban Tuesday night, forest officials said.
Neither the forest department nor the owner of the vessel made any attempt to salvage the cargo till Wednesday night.
The Khulna-bound coal laden cargo ship ‘MV GR Raj’ from Mongla Port capsized with 510 tonnes of coal at Beauty Market area in the Pasur river near the Sunderban as the keel of the ship cracked, around 9pm, sub-inspector Md Nazrul Islam of Chandpai Navy police camp said.
Locals rescued the 10 crew members of the vessel from the river in a trawler, reported United News of Bangladesh.
